The song describes the narrator sitting and watching airplanes take off, trying to figure out which one his beloved might be on. Living Hard is Gary’s seventh studio album. He started his career as a teenager, playing in honky tonks with his father. Even at a young age he was offered recording contracts and large venues, but he refused to accept them until he finished school. He finally signed with Decca Records in 1996, and the rest is history. Gary Allen is known for his more traditional style of country music, citing influences like Buck Owens and Merle Haggard. He has said that he has to “walk a real fine line” between popular music and traditional country.
